This MEBU was waiting to meet an eastbound at West BD behind a solid set of Guilford power. Guilford had just cut the D&H loose, putting it into bankruptcy after losing a battle to impose Springfneld Terminal work rules.
This northbound has just worked Danville Jct, trading cars with the St Lawrence & Atlantic, and is now headed north with 85 cars. I didnt chase, as I was not familiar with the roads, and was just able to get this grab shot.
JET 1 is getting out of town as NY 10 waits on track 2. As soon as the westbound clears, NY 10 will head up the runner to change power and crews, then back out onto the Tier to head east.
JET 1 has recrewed and is now rolling west, taking its 102 cars to the Southern Tier Line at QD behind a motley mix of Guilford power.
Guilford established a pair of trains, JET 1 and JET 2 to make some kind of effort to hasten freight velocity to New England. In an optimistic approach by the marketing types, these were called JET 1 westbound, and JET 2 eastbound. Here we see JET 1 coming through Bevier St with 102 cars. It will take the Buffalo Runner to QD, where a new crew will get on for the trip to Buffalo, avoiding the yard and its interminable terminal delay.
EBBU rolls out to BD and will shortly be on its way west.
EBBU pulls up to the north end of the yard, and will shortly head out for BD and the Southern Tier with its 77 cars.
PYRP pulls up to the north end of Bevier St yard, where it will get pushers for the trip over Belden Hill. The second unit is showing its heritage.
PYRP behind a trio of GP 40-2s meets SUX 1 in the siding at Nineveh. A southbound will pick up the local, whose crew has been taxied back to Binghamton
Winter and construction. Even the D&H is feeling the sting of construction work as PYRP heads for Belden tunnel, in a NY work zone.
