Miscellanea. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Philip R. Hastings that was taken in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, on 2 December 1956. Shown here (L to R) are four Pennsylvania Railroad engines poised for action: #4249, #4293, #6734, and #1496. #4249 and #4293 are I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapods" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works: #4249 was constructed in June of 1923 and retired in August of 1957, while #4293 was built in July of 1923 and retired in October of 1959. #6734 is an M-1B (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an M-1A in June of 1930, rebuilt in Juniata as an M-1B in August of 1948, and retired in September of 1959. #1496 is a B-6SB (0-6-0) switcher built in Juniata in January of 1916 and retired in December of 1957. All that smoke and steam means it's really, really cold! This photo comes from a color slide set entitled "Steam on the Pennsy's Elmira and Shamokin Branches" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (785-3).

Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #4250, #3667, and an unidentified "B" Class (0-6-0) switcher. #4250 is an I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapod" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an I-1S during June of 1923, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in September of 1943, and retired in December of 1953. Engine #3667 is a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during June of 1918 and retired in August of 1953. In this context, the "Decapod" and the switcher are moving the inert "Pacific" into the Roundhouse. Of the three locomotives partially visible in the foreground, the first two are PRR engines #6803 and #6821; both are Class M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountains" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works.

Quin. Here is the second of four photographs of Pennsylvania Railroad steam locomotives that were taken by Frank Quin. It was published originally in the October 1989 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 47. Partial Caption: "Coming round Horse Shoe Curve, Pennsylvania 2-10-0 4253 (on the front) assists a 4-8-2 on a 'passenger train,' a nameless mail and express with some coaches."
