PRR 4293, I-1SA, 1956         
Kern. Here is the second of two successive 35mm color slides of photos by Fred Kern that were taken near Locust Gap, Pennsylvania, on 12 April 1956. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #4293 and #4383. Both are I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapods" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works. #4293 was constructed as an I-1S during July of 1923, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in August of 1942, and retired in October of 1959. #4383 was built as an I-1S during January of 1923, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in October of 1941, and retired in October of 1959.
