Description:  Slope to Works. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains between SLOPE and WORKS Towers in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 06 June 1965. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #6306 and #6303. Both are AF-27's built by the American Locomotive Company in 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower each. They are pushing a westbound mixed-cargo freight and are about to pass under the 12th Street Bridge. The westbound ore train headed by PRR engine #6011 continues to rumble-on in the foreground.

Description:  Brickyard. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains at the Brickyard Crossing in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 18 July 1965. On the left (L to R) are PRR engines #6306 and #6303. Both are AF-27's built by the American Locomotive Company during 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower each. They are returning to East Altoona after helping or pushing a train up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin, Pennsylvania. On the right (L to R) are PRR engines #2534, #2247, and #7163. #2534 is a GF-25 built by GE in February of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2247 is an EF-22 built by GM-EMD in 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. #7163 is an EFS-17M built by GM-EMD in 1957 and rated at 1,750 horsepower. They are pulling a 43-car eastbound merchandise train with N-8 caboose #478032.

Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #6302, #6306, #6300, and #6304. All are AF-27's built by the American Locomotive Company during 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower each. They are about to pass under the 7th Street Bridge on their way to East Altoona to get ready to make another helper/pusher run up to Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and back.

Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #6500 and #6306. #6500 is a GF-25A built by General Electric in 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #6306 is an AF-27 built by the American Locomotive Company in 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower. They are pushing a 99-car westbound mixed-cargo freight train around the Curve and up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin, where they will uncouple and return to East Altoona for another run up the Mountains. The caboose is N-8 #478151.
