| Built by Baldwin in 1837, it was purchased by the Galena & Chicago Union Railway (G&CU) which was the direct predecessor of the C&NW. It pulled its first westbound train out of Chicago in 1848 after being transported from NY by schooner. The photo is believed to be dated circa 1875. |
