Crawling at 30 MPH to Van Buren: lead unit has a hot axle. 2222 cannot lead. 1049 is about to be dropped off at Van Buren. That leaves no viable power past van buren for this train.
Keeps the main with SB oil train in the siding
The saga of NLKC has just began. It just met a SB coal in Marche and a SB freight in Mayflower. It is currently working through track work and heading for Blackville for a SB oil train, then 2 freights in Spadra and one coal train in Poping.
UP 1049 GP60 (Union Pacific classifies this diesel a GP62) creeps uphill with a transfer run. Delivered to St. Louis - Southwestern (Cotton Belt) as SSW 9638 in March 1990, patched UP 1992 on May 7, 2007, patched again as UP 1049 on October 11, 2013, then modified as a GP62 in December 2015. The GP62 is a standard GP60 with a re-positioned control stand to allow for easier long hood forward operation. Some SD60s are having the same modifications performed and are now called SD62s.
UP 1049 GP60, UP 1419 GP40-2, UP 1384 GP40-2, and UP 8858 SD70ACe crawl uphill with a long transfer run. Patched UP 1049 was delivered to Cotton Belt, UP 1419 delivered to Southern Pacific, freshly painted UP 1384 was delivered to Cotton Belt, and UP 8858 was built new for Union Pacific. Quite a bit of former SP/SSW power on this train.
