I started the day at E. Spear and then worked my way south along the KCS Laredo Sub, only to chase a NB train back to Spear & find a full house with all 4 tracks full of NB/EB trains. Good day!
Two NB/EB trains are waiting crews & clearances at E. Spear on this date.
NS 135 cruises through Toccoa on the Greenville District
KCS 4155
The DPU on the southbound TXUX train push south, approaching Lincoln Av. The waiting motorists will be there a little longer, though, as the northbound empty train is blocking the crossing.
The DPU on the southbound train rolls past Tahlequah St. The car in the foreground came up quick just as the head end was getting to the crossing. I was afraid for a moment I was going to have to make a run for it. He stopped in time, but not by much.
The empty coal trains head end is on the left as the loaded trains DPU rolls past going south.
The Q train comes around the curve at MP 237 as it gains speed leaving Watts. He has 17 stack platforms behind the power, then 78 freight behind.
The Q train rolls into the curve at South Watts.
Q KCNL stops at the Watts yard office while the power off H SHKC pulls out of the yard after making his set out.
I had chased H SHKC up from Stilwell to Watts, where he was doing yard work. I figured that could take a while, and Id been out a couple of hours, so headed for home. I got to the crossing just north of the bridge when I heard a horn. I looked over to see the Q train headed south. Unfortunately, he was too far along for me to come around and set up a shot on the Illinois River, so took this grab shot from the car window. Cant win em all!!
The Q train rolls past the south end of the yard as it gets underway south. The tail end of the northbound H train is seen in the distance on the siding.
Southbound Q KCNL rolls slowly toward the Watts yard, where it will meet the northbound H train at the office. Hell pause there momentarily while the H train power gets back on his train, and then roll on. The containers and autos are up front today.
The H trains power is back on, and hell be departing once the Q train clears the north end of the siding. Seven units, all Belles.
Two KCS diesels lead a hopper car train south through Norman.
These run west to the Cargill elevators in Topeka, KS over UP tracks.
