At 0645hrs this train was heading through Fonda, NY. So I told dave that we should get somewhere to catch by 9:30 or so. After searching for a spot the would work for the shot, this was the best we could find as the sun was not favorable at this time of day for a wesbound shot. So we get there and hadn't heard anything on the scanner, when Dave says lets go get a quick snak and come back. I voted we waited it out, and sure enough, this was in front of us 10 minutes later.
These two engines are powering the K693-24 a westbound empty ethanol back to the mid-west USA. CP #6049 and ICE's "City of Linwood".
Fellow contributor Jack Jakeman paid me a visit today to do some railfanning in central New York. He knew this westbound train was on the way, so we searched for a spot that would be favorable for less than ideal lighting. We settled on this field off of Towpath Rd. behind the Weedsport Speedway. When you're looking east down the tracks at 09:50 in the morning the sun is kinda in your face, so stepping back to the south is about the best you can do here; and so here it is......... the K693-24! And to think that 10 minutes before it came through I was gonna head into the village for a snack; Jack strongly suggested that we stay-put.......good call!!!
