Old CP Rail SD40-2 sent here by NREX for scrap
253 coming north at CPF-503. This scene has changed in 2018. These signals were replaced in 2013 with Safetran Darth Vader signals. CP sold this part of the D&H to NS in 2015. CP power now only comes through here sporadically.
Lots and lots of locomotives. (I got the locomotive numbers from a drone video).
The SD40-2's are spanking new in this shot, and the red really stands out against the haze on this train returning to Toronto after swapping cars at Hamilton. Canadian roads still used flags and class lights during this period, a nice touch that really added to any photo.
CP 421 was the train that ran to Buffalo the days 167 didnt run. Todays version has three SOO SD60s not that unusual at the time. Here they split the signals at MP 228 in Campville. Note the traffic light signal on track 2. This was installed in preparation for single tracking the line, which NS would not accomplish for almost another 10 years.
