Glad I went, this and seven behind it left here last night.
On a warm Saturday afternoon, February 20, 2016 one of Amtraks last three remaining AEM7-ACs was tasked with leading "The Crescent" from New York to Washington. The train is seen here biting into the S-curves at Elizabeth with the 8-car New Orleans-bound train in tow. It was certainly one of the more photographed trains on the Northeast Corridor in some time as railfans try to document these veteran "toasters" in their final months of service.
Farewell AEM-7s
Amtrak AEM-7s 942 and 946 haul tail at trackspeed through Perryville, MD on June 18, 2016. This would be the last revenue run for the AEM-7s, Amtrak put together a special train to say goodbye.

This was the power for our train to Washington

It's 5:27 AM and this will be my last picture of an active Amtrak AEM-7 as MARC train 506(1) with AEM-7 946 departs Baltimore from number 7 track.
942 and 946 doublehead the Farewell to the AEM-7 excursion train in Halethorpe.
The cab door was open on Amtrak 946 at Union, so I took a pic of the cab.
They're not done yet! Took a "grab" shot from my train just as this pulled west.
The excursion train terminates at Washington Union Station, on the AEM-7s last revenue run
The "Farewell to the AEM-7" special has cruised into Union Station, and no AEM-7 will ever turn a wheel for a revenue Amtrak train again. The 942 and 946 will be hauled dead in tow back to Wilmington for disposition.

AEM-7AC #942 is chomping at the bit one last time. She will depart with the "Farewell to the AEM-7" special in a few minutes.

Amtrak workers wait for Amtrak 19 to pass by to continue working on track 3. This would be the last time that I would see an AEM-7.
An Amtrak worker waves to the crew of Amtrak 19 with Amtrak AEM-7 946 in the lead.
With less than 10 AEM-7's running at this point, seeing one was a real treat. Here's Amtrak 127 heading west with AEM-7 946 in charge.
