Amtrak turntable in Los Angeles. Taken from the Amtrak Surfliner. One locomotive included in the photograph is Santa Fe 3751, the awesome 4-8-4 that does excursions. We were going down a bridge when I got this picture.
Though AMTK 464 left not too long ago, it was still gone from LA. However, my brother still has an Ho Scale Athearn F59PHI model of 464, we decided to bring it with us and take shots like this one while we bid farewell to AMTK 459 as the engine carries onto its new career handling the many commuters who use Metra! By this time, 459 and 458 were the last pair to be out here still. The rest are with Metra with some of them already in service.
Those F59s sure were good with Surfliner cars.
This F59 likely has only a matter of time before sent east for Metra service.

Amtrak 193 leads a late #4 through a slow order at De Soto, I can say from experience a train ride between Topeka and Kansas City is pretty scenic.
