There, CSX would take over the towing chores to Chicago. The Cardinal would eventually deliver its passengers to Chicago over 8 hours late.

A green signal lies ahead of P42 131 as it prepares to depart San Jose for points south. The engine has taken on a new crew, and will depart once all passengers are boarded. Train #11, the southbound Coast Starlight, is running nearly an hour late.
