| Description: |
Built by the Burnham, Wms & Co (Baldwin) in 1901, this camelback ten-wheeler type locomotive was a class G-12 with 62" drivers, developed 200 psi boiler pressure and had a respectable tractive effort of 27,217 lb. Note the open and unprotected fireman's position in back. That would have been difficult working conditions. The day in February is approximate.Harold K. Vollrath photo |

PRR L5pdg #7808 - Pennsylvania RR |
| Description: |
This is one of those missing links between steam locomotives and electric locomotive. With drivers that would appear at home on a steam engine, it nonetheless is on an electric loco. This side rod electric built by the PRR Altoona shops and GE was a 3rd rail DC unit with a 1-B-B-1 wheel configuration adn 80" drivers. One of only 6 experimental L5pdg units built - proved to be unsuccessful. Shot while in the Meadows yard. The day in 1933 is approximate. Unfortunately, no photographer was listed for this rare photo. |

This is a stunning ten-wheeler with the white walls and gleaning steam chest, obviously the pride of the Erie RR at the time. Specifics - 69" drivers, 200 psi, 19" x 26" cylinders. Unfortunately no photographer was credited with taking this great action shot in an undisclosed location. With Dave Korhammer's help (see comment below) and based on the location of the Union Terminal Cold Storage Company (partial name in background), I now believe that the location is Jersey City, NJ. |
