Here is an early photo of the Frisco oil burning 2-8-0 #1205 as it sat in the Tulso, OK yard. Buiilt by Burnham, Wms & Co (early Baldwin) in March of 1907, it first worked the subsidiaries CSNO&P and the NOTM. It was last listed on the Frisco diagram book in 3/1/1947. Good looking Burnham, Wms & Co (Baldwin) Consolidation type locomotive built in 1907. This class 1226 loco had small 57" drivers and developed a boiler pressure of 200 psi for its 22"x30" cylinders. The engine tipped the scales at a modest 207,000 lb and could apply a tractive effort 43,305 lb. In 1922, it was superheated by Frisco shops in 1922.

Built by Baldwin in May of 1926, the loco was a powerful and fast addition to the Frisco roster. In 1948, it was coverted from oil to coal burning. Sometime after that, it landed in a dead line and presumedly scrapped. Original Specs - serial #59199, class T-54, 69" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 28x28" cylinders, engine weight of 355,000 lb, tractive effort of 54,085 lb. No date, location, or photographer was listed.

Nice example of a 2-8-2 Mikado built by Alco-Schenectady in April of 1913 (sn 52905). , In March of 1923, the boiler was replaced by Schenectady from MKT #756. After nearly 38 years of service, the loco was scrapped in August of 1951. Original specs - class L-1-a, 61" drivers, 195 psi boiler pressure, 26.5x30" cylinders, engine wt of 287,500 lb and tractive effort of 57,250 lb. No date was given for this photo so an approximate one was used. The photo is by C. C. Grayson.

A note on the back of this photo states "Blue (?) sideboard" as a comment on the minimal streamlining that the Frisco did on this loco by just adding the side boards. No photographer was listed for the photo.

Baldwin built the St Louis-San Francisco 4-6-2 Pacific type loco #1018 in January of 1910 (serial #34157). It was stremlined to pull the premier "Firefly" route between Kansas City, MO and Tulsa, OK. The modified streamlining done in 1939 during an rebuild consisted of a cone nose and side valances. The psi boiler pressure was increase to 200, the drivers were increased to 73", the weight increased to 243,500 lb but the tractive force went down to 37,600 lb. The loco was eventually scrapped in May of 1950. Original specs - 69" drivers, 175 psi boiler pressure, 26x28" cylinders, engine wt of 225,500 lb and tractive force of 40,800 lb. No photographer was listed for the photo and no exact day in 1947 was given.

This Frisco 4-6-0 ten wheeler #711 served the line faithfully for nearly 44 years before dropping off the roster in 1950. Built by Alco-Brooks in June of 1906, the loco was superheated by the Frisco shops in Springfield, MO, in 1917. Built at Schenectady in 1912, this Class 1040 Pacific was one of a batch of 20 such locomotives. Photographer is unknown and the date is approimate.

Built by Baldwin in December of 1906 (serial #29732), it now sits in the scrap line at the Tulsa yard awaiting the scrapper's torch in November of 1948 after nearly 42 years of service. This is an an outstanding photograph. However, I did not take this photograph. I saved it from the internet. I do think it it was one of the best railroad pictures evr taken in the Tulsa area and deserves to be displayed in as many venue's as possible

Three Frisco units prepare to depart Tulsa's Cherokee Yard at dusk in the summer of 1974. GP38-2 407 is followed by sister 421 and U30B 836.

TP 109 is the former Midland Valley 153. Built as a GP7 in 1953, it was involved in a collision at Bokoshe OK and rebuilt by EMD as a GP9M while retaining its original number (MV 153) and a new builders number. It eventually become TP 109 within the Missouri Pacific system. Not long after this picture was taken it was renumbered 1696 and survived until 1979. It's shown here on what used to be home rails, the former MV yard in Tulsa OK.

TULSA OK March 25 1978 -- Frisco U30B 862 is being serviced at Cherokee Yard. GE built the unit in March 1975. When Frisco was merged into the BN 862 became BN 5799. It was retired in February 1991. (Roster information from trainpix.com)
