A pair of former NdeM SDP40s working at Celaya yard in a hot afternoon. There used to be a steam generator at the rear of the locomotive behind the radiator as these units were built mainly for passenger service. I saw a online post not too long ago the interior of one of the units that the steam generator was replaced by a concrete block to compensate the weight and maintain the same towing capacity. FXE 3227 was built as NdeM 8534 in 1970. It was later rebuilt to SD40-2 specs in 1992. It later became FNM 13099 when NdeM was disappearing. FXE 3209 was built as NdeM 8526 in 1968. It was later rebuilt into SD40-2 specs in 1991. After NdeM disappeared, it became FNM 13081. These units are still in service as of today |
