| Description: |
Nyman. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Tom Smart that was taken near Union Station in Louisville, Kentucky, on 7 May 1966. Shown here (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #8587 and another unit whose road number is not recorded. Both were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #8587 is an ES-15MS steam generator-equipped road switcher constructed in September of 1953. In this context, they're powering a ten-car "Derby Special." |
