WCR RDC2 #6205 - Waterloo Central Ry |
| Description: |
The car was built by the Canadian Car & Foundry in Lachine,Quebec under license from the Budd Company. It entered service as CNR RDC2 #D-202 (serial #6914). In 1969, it was renumbered to CN 6205. It was acquired by VIA Rail when the company took over national passenger services across Canada in 1978 and renumbered VIA 6205. During its time on the Sudbury to White River route, it became known as the "canoe car". The seats and baggage section wall were removed to allow passengers to transport canoes for wilderness flag stops. The car also served on the Esquimalt & Nanaimo (E&N) Railway on Vancouver Island, operating between Victoria and Nanaimo. It was acquired by the Waterloo Central sometime in early 2020. |

Close up of its relettered number board. From the location in the Waterloo Central Yard, I don't think it's up for a restoration anytime soon. |
