MP GP15AC #1741 - Missouri Pacific |
| Description: |
Rail fan L.R. Stiles caught Missouri Pacific GP15AC #1741 heading up a freight train at the Grand Avenue yard in St Louis, MO. The loco was built by EMD in December of 1982 as MS GP15AC #1741 but upon the merger with Union Pacific, it eventually became UPY GP15AC #741. The "AC" refers to the use of an AC alternator connected to the engine instead of a DC one to drive the traction motors. As of January, 2023, UPY #741 was still on the active roster. This is an L.R. Stiles color slide which is now in my collection. |

Here is a closer view of Missouri Pacific GP15AC #1741 by rail fan L.R. Stiles while the freight was passing through the Grand Avenue yard in St Louis, MO. Its still wearing the shiny dark blue "Jenks" paint scheme with the "screaming eagle" logo. The color slide is now in my collection. |
