| The Amtrak depot area at Chipley Florida is still well groomed and shows the effort expended when Amtrak extended the "Sunet Limited" across the Florida panhandle. The depot sits on the right, a gazebo in a grassy area, and a restored caboose accents the area. Unfortunately Amtrak service across the panhandle remains suspended since Hurricane Katrina caused much damage to trackage in Mississippi and Louisiana. While the track has been repaired and freight trains have resumed crossing the panhandle it is unclear when, or if, Amtrak service will resume in this area. |
