PRR 4671, I-1SA, #5 of 5, 1956
Sweetland. Here is the fifth of five successive 35mm color slides of photos by David R. Sweetland that were taken near Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania, on 26 August 1956. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4671 and another "Decapod" whose road number is not recorded. #4671 is an I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapod" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an I-1S during November of 1923, rebuilt in Juniata as an I-1SA in March of 1941, and retired in November of 1958 after 35 years of faithful service. In this context, they're ore train helpers placed ahead of the cabin car.

Stephen Gose General Interesting how not a single one in the train has a coast to coast tender coupled up. Thanks for sharing, great shots! 12/15/2018 4:20:58 AM
