(In more recent times, it's been known as the Grier School for Girls.) Depicted at the far left is an eastbound Pennsylvania Railroad train about to pass through the whistle stop at Birmingham. The original station was built in 1892 to serve the Austin & Northwestern RR, which has the distinction of carrying the granite used to construct the state capitol building in Austin.
