Built by Baldwin in June of 1924, Atlantic Coast Line 4-6-2 #1694 was a solution that the ACL and Baldwin mechanical engineers designed as a dual purpose locomotive to take care of the growing needs of both passengers and freight. Baldwin built a total of 165 of these between 1922 and 1926. ACL #1694 lasted until being scrapped in April of 1953 at Waycross, GA. .
