Album Info:The Cal-P Line, officially the Union Pacific Martinez Subdivision, connects Oakland and Roseville, allowing trains to bypass Stockton. The total length of the line is approximately 80 miles, and spans from the north end of the Port of Oakland Yard to the south end of J.R.Davis Yard in Roseville. Amtrak's Coast Starlight, California Zephyr, and Capitol Corridor also traverse this line. This album includes all images from north Oakland to the Sacramento Valley Station in downtown Sacramento.

Description:  The Cal-P Line, officially the Union Pacific Martinez Subdivision, connects Oakland and Roseville, allowing trains to bypass Stockton. Amtraks Coast Starlight, California Zephyr, and Capitol Corridor also traverse this line. the line begins officially at CP 10th Street in UPs West Oakland Yard. The tracks traverse the coast of the North Bay, before crossing the water on the massive Benicia-Martinez Bridge, the second largest railroad bridge in North America. After crossing the straits, the line heads northeast. passing through Suisin City, Fairfield, Dixon, and Davis. Description:  ATSF 5021 waits for a call to service on the Sacramento Southern Railway. ATSF 5021 was built in1944, and was donated to the California State RailroadMuseum in the mid 1980s. along with 4-8-4 2925, an RSD15, and a pair of F-units. The Sacramento Southern Railway, a tourist line owned by the CSRM, stores it and several other pieces of preserved equipment on their yard tracks in Old Sacrmento.

SP 2170
Title:  SP 2170
Description:  SP 291 is parked with its commuter cousin. The two-tone grey car at left (SP 2170) is one of several Southern Pacific Pullman coaches preserved by the Sacramento Southern Railroad, and the California State Railroad Museum. These cars were used on the Peninsula Commute run in the Bay Area, as well as some long-distance trains across the whole SP system. SP 291 was built by Budd for use on the Sunset Limited in the 1950s.

Southern Pacific 2467
Title:  Southern Pacific 2467
Description:  Inside the old Central Pacific Train Shed, Southern Pacific 2467 undergoes maintenance. The 2467 is a 4-6-2 P-8 Pacific, one of three SP Pacifics still around. The other surviving P-8, 2472, is owned by the Golden Gate Railroad Museum and operates on the Niles Canyon Railway in the Bay Area. The one surviving P-10, 2479, is currently undergoing restoration at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds in San Jose.

Title:  UP 25256
Description:  Union Pacific cupola caboose 25256 displays the "America, Were Pulling For You" slogan coined sometime in the 70s. Union Pacific 25256 was built in 1952 as their 3856, before being renumbered to the 25256 in the late 50s. The caboose came to the California State Railroad Museum in the 70s-80s. In the background is the I Street Bridge, which carries the current UP (ex-SP) main over the Sacramento River into the Sacramento Valley Station (out of frame to the right).

Sacramento Valley Station
Title:  Sacramento Valley Station
Description:  A Sacramento RT train sits at the platform at the Sacramento Valley Station. This is the older portion of the station, used during the Golden Age of train travel. Now, the modern platforms are farther away from the main station, connected by a covered walkway. The tracks that once sat here have been torn up, leaving this once bustling rail hub partially overgrown with weeds and grass.
