BNSF 7272
Title:  BNSF 7272
Description:  BNSF 7272 is four-of-nine (from the north) continuing her semi-concealed track record on sensor (three pictures, one sneaking out of the power corral through brush and another two out in the north yard and this is the best view... would seem shes a little bashful).

BNSF 7820
Title:  BNSF 7820
Description:  BNSF 7820 as two-of-nine in a little power shuffle through the Vancouver yards (too bad it was cold and rainy without any light - wouldve been interesting to hang around and see what this many horses were going to do).

BNSF 7950
Title:  BNSF 7950
Description:  BNSF 7950 is, uh, seven... SEVEN of NINE (oh! Wait! Doesnt that make it some sort of SciFi sex symbol? Just coincidence, or deeper meaning... the first two digits on the number board! 7 and 9! Ha! It was planned... it means, uh, it means - er, "It means monkey brains can find patterns in anything they look at." (Thanks - count on the spouse to always help out when the old brain doesnt want to complete a perfectly good sentence that WAS going to say something like, "You know, I really feel like going out for, uh, you know..." "Corn? Fresh fruit? How about bananas?" "Dang - stupid brain. Too slow to come up with ice cream." Another trip to support Buffett shot down (Next shed say its just coincidence Warren Buffett and group own both BNSF & DQ (Dairy Queen for the uninitiated). Darn, now I feel like ice cream. Stupid brain.)

BNSF 9296
Title:  BNSF 9296
Description:  BNSF 9296 at the end of a northbound coal consist moving quickly north out of Vancouver and into the dark and wet December afternoon. Gotta love it when they put the last unit facing away from the load so you can pretend the image was taken with the consist moving the opposite direction ("forward") for artistic impression.

Title:  UP 4706 et al

UP 4706
Title:  UP 4706
Description:  UP 4706 on point of a power NINE-way (doesnt that make it pushing forty-thousand horses?) which is caught entering the north yard area after a quick duck-and-cover-jump-in-the-car and shoot around the several blocks to a position up above the newer north yard area I can finally stop dancing around trying to get a clear shot - now Im only fighting the power lines supplying the lights and round table.

Description:  AMTK 129 passing BNSF 4739 with BNSF 5247 as a background pumpkin as she paddles quickly south from the back of the Mt Olympus Cascades run in the rush to leave Washington... and if shes lucky, head further south out of the deluge we call afternoon sun (according to the Visitors Center).

BNSF 4739 - BNSF 6644
Title:  BNSF 4739 - BNSF 6644
Description:  BNSF 4739 - BNSF 6644 dynamic duo shifting north (reverse) with mixed freight clearing a crowded main area (one already in the passing lane, one in the east main, and Amtrak due through any moment)... which begs the question: Think it might rain?

BNSF 4739

BNSF 5247
Title:  BNSF 5247
Description:  BNSF 5247 signal mast view as she waits in the passing lane for the approaching Amtrak to clear the main before leading her double-header southbound covered hopper out of town... or in an odd situation, possibly _push_ from the very back on a DPU (not common around here at this time) northward. Its raining too hard to hang around and find out.

BNSF 6644
Title:  BNSF 6644
Description:  BNSF 6644 in number two position sliding past Lake Vancouver Center... I mean the maintenance area of Vancouver Center with mixed freight clearing the lanes to await an all-clear to proceed south. I believe that blue warning sign may have something to do with No Diving and the red No Lifeguard On Duty - but its just a guess (trying to see any detail in this rain and crud we call weather is somewhat challenging, so I might be mistaken).

Description:  BNSF 7874 in second place (or maybe first of a DPU) with a string of covered hoppers in the drowning lane - I mean, Passing Lane - along the mains running beside the north pool - I mean, north yard. Title:  BNSF 4891 - BNSF 6747
Description:  BNSF 4891 - BNSF 6747 double-header on a presumed northbound mixed freight, but shoving rapidly in reverse to the south on one of the mains... and oddly enough, actually appearing to stay off the new passing siding not the first guess of clearing the main. Go figure.

Title:  BNSF 4891
Description:  BNSF 4891 with a likely northbound mixed freight reversing down into the main in the north yard more readily visible in this frame she is indeed not taking the new passing siding to the east. Title:  CEFX 1007
Description:  CEFX 1007 at third position of three at the front of a paused northbound oil can (safety spacer-hopper at her nose) in Vancouver. Were getting lots of rain, but it doesnt seem to be helping remove any of the dirt and road grime.

Vancouver Center Yard & New By-Pass Lane
Title:  Vancouver Center Yard & New By-Pass Lane
Description:  New By-Pass lane on the left of the frame on those fancy concrete ties shows the southern end of the cursed yard-and-main by-pass in Vancouver. Just beyond the road bridge in the distance (Mill Plain) is Vancouver Center proper (BNSF) and the wye with the station (the peak of the Columbia Train Bridge barely visible between the concrete silo in the center distant frame and the large sprawling United Grain terminal on the right of the frame (More details? Its immediately "up" from the paired Procor tankers in the little four-car sort within the ladder)) showing the old small hump yard, sort ladder, and original Vancouver yards of SP&S (now BNSFs)... but its that lane on the left thatll cause me consternation from here to Kingdom Come - because it truly is being used - frequently - for freights to keep off the main north-south lanes (hidden far to the right of the frame) and recently elongated passing lane. It permits westbound-to-northbound freight transitions through the wye to scoot along this two-plus mile section... Im waiting on the updated satellite imagery to fully appreciate all the whoop-dee-doos and squiggles that appear when looking at it on the ground. I have to look forward to something, because its providing a great view-block to my discovered sitting duck arcade for power units back in the power corral waiting area.

UP 5539
Title:  UP 5539
Description:  UP 5539 at the front of a riot of colors at the hauling end of a northbound string of oil tankers from Bakken... pretty amazing considering were looking at $1.72 a gallon for gas (two years ago, $4.20/gal).
