17th Street. Here is an image of an official photo of the Pennsylvania Railroad's engine ladder and ready tracks near the 17th Street Bridge in Altoona, Pennsylvania. This photo was taken during the 1920's. Shown here are several steam locomotives heading for service in the roundhouse at the right, as well as numerous locomotives poised for westbound helper and pusher dutiesatn the left. Also of note are the PRR's Locomotive Test Plant at the lower right, the 12th Street Car Shop buildings in the center, as well as the many commercial buildings facing 10th Avenue on the left.
