PRR 5706, EP-22, 1965
7th Street. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in August of 1965. Prominent here (R to L) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5706 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD. #5706 is an EP-22 built in October of 1952, rated at 2,250 horsepower, and later owned by the Blue Mountain & Reading Railroad. This A-B-A set is about to pass under the 7th Street Bridge with a passenger train and will soon stop at the Altoona Station on its way to Pittsburgh and points West. In the background, a mixed-cargo freight train headed by PRR engine #7140 awaits orders to proceed.
