| 17th Street. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 10 July 1965. Shown here are the Pennsylvania Railroad's Locomotive Ready Tracks below the 17th Street Bridge. Many makes and models are represented. Of the 40 or so locomotives visible here, the following are identifiable by road number. Starting from the right are PRR engines #7118, #7124, #9662, #6302, and #6308. #7118 and #7124 are EFS-17M's built by GM-EMD in June of 1957 and rated at 1,750 horsepower each. #9662 is an EF-15A built by GM-EMD in February of 1950 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. #6302 and #6308 are AF-27's built by the American Locomotive Company in March of 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower each. Note the red PRR Refueling Truck next to #6302. |
