Sunday. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 2 May 1965. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2229, #2501, and #2529. #2229 is an EF-22 built by GM-EMD in April of 1963 and rated at 2,200 horsepower. #2501 and #2529 are GF-25's built by General Electric and rated at 2,500 horsepower each; #2501 was built in August of 1962, but #2529 was built in September of 1964. They're pulling a 45-car manifest freight train through the Passenger Station and up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. The cabin car is N-8 #478159. Photo taken from the 12th Street Footbridge. |
