CBQ 0-8-0 #554 - Chicago, Burlington & Quincy
Chicago, Burlington & Quincy 0-8-0 #554 has led an interesting life. Originally built by Baldwin in November of 1909 as CBQ 2-6-6-2 Mallet #4007 (serial #34029, class T-1-A compund), it was rebuilt by the CBQ's own Denver Shops into CBQ 0-8-0 #554 (class F-2) in August of 1927. The yard switcher lasted another 20 years before being scrapped in August of 1947. Rebuilt specs - 56" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 25x32" cylinders, engine wt of 256,300 lb and tractive force of 60,700 lb. No photographer was listed for the photo which is now in my rr collection.
