| This yard switcher has an interesting history. Baldwin originally built this loco as Great Northern 2-6-6-2 #1907 (serial #32724, classL-1) in March of 1908. It was immediately sold to the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy in the same year to become CBQ 2-6-6-2 #4002 (class T-1 compound). The CBQ Denver Shops rebuilt the compound loco in July of 1927 into CBQ 0-8-0 #553. It lasted until being sold for scrap in December of 1948. Rebuilt specs - 56" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 25x32" cylinders, engine wt of 256,300 lb and tractive force of 60,700 lb. No photographer was listed for the photo which is now in my rr collection. |
