| I was happily greeted by another beautiful sunrise from my Quality Inn in Creston, IA. Today I would be following the Burlington as far as Ottumwa, IA before calling it a day. As I mentioned earlier in this album, coal traffic tapers off pretty significantly on the Creston Subdivision especially at Pacific Junction, so after a few days of quite a few trains, I knew I probably wasnt going to come close to the 40 mark like I had been. BNSF has a pretty decent sized yard in Creston that does have a local job based out of it. Being a Sunday, however, I knew my chances were probably pretty slim of them working today. But, I knew Amtrak would be coming into town eastbound soon after I woke up. So, it was a quick breakfast and a short drive down to the Amtrak station. Sure enough, BNSFs local power was in the yard, shut down completely. Oh well, no Sunday run. |
