| Here is a new addition to the RRPA database and it is a Hoosier location as well! Alco-Brooks built this nice 4-6-2 Pacific type steam locomotive in August of 1923 as Nickel Plate #169 (serial #64636, class K-1b). This is the 2nd #169 that was on the roster. The loco went through several upgrades - in 1925 syphons were applied > in 1926 A.T.S was applied > in 1947 BK stoker applied. The loco was laid up (retired) at Brewster, OH in December, 1953 and finally sold for scrap to Lunz in June of 1954. Rebuilt specs - 74" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 22.5x26" cylinders, engine wt of 255,320 lb and tractive force of 30,200 lb. This is an original photo by Kahn and now in my collection. |
