NJT GG1 #4873 - New Jersey Transit
Doing a "run-around" next to the South Amboy station is New Jersey Transit GG1 #4873. It was built by the Pennsylvania's own Altoona Shops in January of 1939. After bouncing from PRR to PC, it was picked up by the New Jersey transist system who needed additional commuter train power. The loco and its 12 sisters purchased in 1980 served until being retired on October 29, 1983 after nearly 49 combined years of service. No location, exact day in September of 1981 or photographer was given for the color slide which is now in my collection. The location does appear to be South Amboy, NJ.
