| MILW 4-6-2 Pacific #818 found a quiet spot in the Miles City, MT, yard to rest for a bit. Built by Alco-Brooks in June of 1912 as CMstP #1557 (2nd one, serial #51333, class F-5), it went through several renumberings - in 1912 to CMStP 6335 > in 1927 to CMStPP 6335 > finally in June of 1938 to MILW 818 as seen here.The loco was officially retired in April of 1952 and presumedly scrapped. Rebuilt specs - 73" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 25x28" cylinders, engine wt of 253,000 lb and tractive force of 40,753 lb. No photographer was listed for the photo which is now in my collection. |
