| Long before a GP9 carried the number 806, this 4-6-2 Pacific had the honor to wear it. Built by Alco-Brooks in May of 1912 originally as CMStP #1533 (2nd one-serial #51145, class F-5), the loco was renumbered several times > CMStP 6311 > CMStPP 6311 > in 1938 to MILW 806 as seen here. The loco was finally retired in Febraury of 1953 as diesels took over the roster. Rebuilt specs - 73" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 25x28" cylinders, engine wt of 253,000 lb and tractive force of 40,753 lb. No photographer was listed for the photo which is now in my collection. |
