| This good looking Baldwin built 2-8-2 Mikado served the Milwaukee Road in dual roles for passenger and freight service through the years. A very versatile additon to the roster. Baldwin, 10/1923, nee-CMStP 2-8-2 #8396 (serial #57252, L-sb class) > renumbered in August of 1938 to MILW 496. The loco served for 28 years before being scrapped in October of 1951. Specs - 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 26x30" cylinders, engine wt of 292,770 lb and tractive force of 54,723 lb. This is a Kruschke photo in my collection. |
