Description:  Class D-2 (DJ-2, DLJ-2) wagons entered South African Railways service between 1973 and 1978 and are dropside open wagons designed to transport general goods. They were converted from Class DZ-10 and DZA-10 in 1979 and from Class DZ-10 between 1977 and 1978. Some were inherited by TransNamib (the Namibian Railways) upon that country's independence in 1990. The type 3 group has channel iron horizontal and vertical outside braces on their bulkheads.

Loading is done through four roof hatches, and unloading either through the two doors on each side or through the end hatches by tilting the wagon about 30 degrees on its end. Some were inherited by TransNamib (the Namibian Railways) upon that country's independence in 1990 and reclassified to Class FZF-7. The type 1 wagons have ribbed roofs.
