One of nine railcars on the day's excursion train. Seen from the Great Allegheny Passage in Cumberland. This passenger car is named for a legend who spent 44 years as brakeman and conductor on B&O, Amtrak, and CSX. After retiring from CSX, in 1989, he put in an additional 19 years as conductor for the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad and the Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad.

RPCX 1099 was built by Pullman-Standard in 1954 as Canadian National 1099 "Bedford". In 1978, the car was transferred to VIA Rail, retaining the same number and name. The car was sold to Rail Ventures in 1990. It would be resold again to another private owner and moved to PRyM. Work is slowing being performed on the car.
