LI C60

This is a South Brooklyn Locomotive moving LI C-60. This is the first and only time a caboose from any railroad, moved thru the NY City subway system. A historic photo to be sure

One of LIRRs short wheelbase cars is working on RF 7 today, seen at Fremont. They often wound up in the middle of the train. Hope the crew remembered to switch it out before dropping the cars for Conrail.

LIRR had some of these small cabooses that youd think would be used primarily on peddler freights and short trips on the west end, with the bay window cars going "on the road" as it were, but all of them were used systemwide. This short car is trailing RF 7 at Fresh Pond a job it is well suited for.

RF 57s caboose is tucked in behind the power as it passes the station.

A short RF 57 works past Bellerose as it makes its way from Hicksville into Fresh Pond on a Sunday afternoon.

RF 62s caboose is seen in the distance as the train gets underway after setting out a cut of cars for pick up on the return trip. YA block station is at right.
