The day of this photo, LIRR was running a trip called the Kabin Kar Trek, which had 8 cabooses and two coaches, allowing riders to ride the cabooses for segments of the trip. Looks like C 53 had to work that day. We see it bringing up the rear of RF 60.
RF 60 pulls away from the camera, having just knocked down the signal as it approaches Jay tower to get through the Jamaica complex. At left in the Richmond Hill yard, is a train led by FA 616.
Sometimes an extra job would run. Today was my lucky day, I caught this while waiting on the eastbound parade of passenger trains. Alco 225 has caboose 53 and 21 cars in tow.
