SF-Prints. Here is a print by Don Wood that was taken in Mifflintown, Pennsylvania, in 1955. Caption On Reverse: "4-8-2 M1A 6774 through Mifflin, Pa., with Train PG-5 in 1955. Westbound action. 6774 was last M1A built by Altoona & last steamer built until duplexes arrived." Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6774 is an M-1A (4-8-2) "Mountain" built in Juniata during November of 1930 and retired in February of 1956 after 26 years of faithful service. Brad Mann Collection.
Here is a photo of Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6774, an M-1A (4-8-2) "Mountain" built in Juniata during November of 1930 and retired in February of 1956 after 26 years of faithful service. This is the very last "Mountain" built by Juniata. Wave to the Engineman! The photographer's name, the exact date, and the location are not recorded. John S. Fisher Collection; #13 of 13.

Here is a photo that was included in the "Altoona Area Railroad Pictorial History" edited by Linda White and published in 1996 by The Altoona Mirror, page 39. Photo Caption: "M-1 locomotive sits at the northwest corner of the Erecting & Machine Shop in this photo taken in 1957." Given the purported date of this photo, my best guess at the number of this locomotive is PRR engine #6774, an M-1A (4-8-2) "Mountain" built in Juniata during November of 1930, retired in February of 1956, and here being "cannibalized" for parts. Alas....
