The short westbound consist accelerates on the upgrade after the Route 946 grade crossing
The conductor prepares to flag the Cement Secondary's grade crossing at Route 946. This is an added safety measure, because the crossing is already protected by flashing crossbucks.

Strangely enough, the ex-Conrail GP40-2 isn't the special loco here; NS 3435 was built as an SD40 for the Pennsylvania Railroad in 1966! She's still earning her keep on NS local H74 as the crew heads east on track 1 'running wrong main', as NS intermodal train 22V sits on main 2 while making a pickup from River Yard
H76 heads through CP 88 at 0930. 3435 built March 1966 as PRR 6100, was later Conrail 6353 and then 6978. 4619 built December 1989.
Another shot of NS (ex-CR) SD40-2 3435 at Colehour Yard. It appears to be assigned there as a yard unit. When that happens, generally speaking, units tend to stay about 4-6 weeks before being moved elsewhere.
3435 rests at Colehour Yard. These are getting harder to find. The only reason I saw this one was because it belched a column of blue smoke for the first 30 minutes after it was started up.

We bid farewell to the H4W as they head southbound below Hyner passing a cemetery.
The H4W rolls through "downtown" Renovo as the clouds really start to take hold.
Kicking up leaves in their wake the H4W heads south.
Back with the H4W again they roll south through Westport with no cars.
Rolling over the bridge between CP Keating and CP North Keating the H4W prepares to stop and make a set off for RJ Corman.
Finally getting some good light the Conrail Blue looks good on a fall day.
Coming through the plant at CP Drury H4W has a clear run all the way to Keating.
