Train 253, usually a mid to late afternoon run out of Binghamton, lives up to its billing as it approaches Bevier St in sweet light.

In 2000, a bridge that had been discussed for a long time was finally built across the Susquehanna at Apalachin, connecting to NY 17C at the east end of Campville. Aside from making my trips to and from Binghamton a lot easier, it was also a good platform for shooting trains. I took a lot of photos here of westbounds, not so many eastbounds. The shot of a westbound here is a lot more dramatic, hence I tended to shoot more of them. Today, I got an eastbound, the same 11T I shot at MP 230. We see in this photo that there is an interesting mix of power. The leader is nothing special, but the second unit is one of CP's famed Red Barns, the SD40F's that floated around the system, and spent several years here. Trailing is a SOO SD 60, also fairly common, but adding a different shade of red to the mix.

...I'd get the opportunity to add to my Soo Line SD60 roster in 2015? Certainly not me, although ironically one of the few to NOT yet be repainted could actually use it. Leading a 306-axle 281 westbound.
