This is the interior of one of the Flushing Lines R36 cars. They were delivered just ahead of the 1964/65 Worlds Fair in a unique blue and gray scheme. Most cars were married pairs, with a group of singles to accommodate the 11 car trains that ran on the line. This is one of the singles, 9306 at the Transit Museum. The interior is much like any other IRT car of the era.
On May 11th, 2013, a NYCMTA 42nd Street Shuttle Subway Train, consisting of older R Series Nostalgic Cars, is about to slow for its last stop at 42nd Street-Times Square Station in Manhattan, New York. The use of the nostalgic equipment is to provide extra capacity for those travelling to the Railcar Event at Grand Central Terminal, as part of the Centennial Celebration.
