Baltimore & Ohio 4-6-2 #5320, "President Cleveland" was a special attraction at the 1933 Chicago World's Fair. Baltimore & Ohio 4-6-2 Pacific #5320 "President Cleveland" (class P9) was built by the Mt. Clare Shops in 1928 as a variation to the P-7 class built by Baldwin. It differed from the otherP-7 in that it had Caprotti valve gear and a watertube boiler. In 1947, it was rebuilt to conform to the others of the class. The 20 members of the class were named after the first 20 US Presidents, hence President Cleveland for #5320. It served as prime motive power for top-tier express passenger trains like the National Limited. Finally, the loco as with the other members of the P-7 class was scrapped in 1958. Rebuilt specs - P-9-a class, 80" drivers, impressive 230 psi boiler pressure, 27x28" cylinders, engine wt of 362,000 lb and tractive effort of 49,882 lb. No photographer was listed for the photo which is now part of my rr collection.

This photo of Baltimore & Ohio 4-6-2 #5320 shows the locomotive after its rebuild in 1947.
Here is another view of this striking sharp looking 4-6-2 Pacific built by the B&O Mount Clare shops in 1928. This sole member of the P9 class completed the Presidental line of 4-6-2 Pacifics in the P7 class and carried the name "President Cleveland." Unknown photographer - possibly a B&O builder photo.
Here is a side view of the B&O Mount Clare shops built 4-6-2 #5320. This unique locomotive carried the President Cleveland name to fit the P-7 class Presidental line although it was the lone P9 class loco. Eventually in 1947, it was rebuilt to match the P7 class. Unknown photographer - possibly a B&O builder photo.
Beautiful newly built 4-6-2 Pacific stands outside the Baltimore & Ohio Mount Clare shops where it was built in 1928. The class before B&O #5320 was the Presidental P-7 class built by Baldwin in 1927. This was a powerful fleet of 20 passenger engines named after US Presidents in order, beginning with #5300 President Washington. #5320, however, was built by the B&O shops at Mt Clare, Maryland, with some interesting difference such as having Caprotti valve gear and a watertube boiler and classified as the only P9 loco. It carried the name "President Cleveland" to take its place in the Presidental line up. In 1947, it was rebuilt to conform to the others of the P7 class. Unknown photographer - possibly a B&O builder photo.
