MILW 2-8-2 #498 had its photo taken while it was in the St Paul, MN yard by an unidentified rail fan. Baldwin, 10/1923, nee-CMStP 2-8-2 #8398 (serial #57364, L-sb class) > renumbered in June of 1938 to MILW 498. The loco served for 30 years before being scrapped in July of 1953. Specs - 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 26x30" cylinders, engine wt of 292,770 lb and tractive force of 54,723 lb. No photographer was listed for the photo which is now part of my collection. |
