Having a fleet of 2-8-2 Mikados as the nation moved into WW II was beneficial as these were excellent workhorses. Baldwin, 9/1923, nee-CMStP 2-8-2 #8385 (serial #57174, L-sb class) > renumbered in June of 1938 to MILW 485. The loco served for 30 years before being scrapped in March of 1953. Specs - 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 26x30" cylinders, engine wt of 292,770 lb and tractive force of 54,723 lb. No photographer was listed for the photo which is now in my collection. |
