Although still looking sharp and ready for the next assignment, MILW 2-8-2 #481's days are numbered as the diesels take over. Baldwin, 9/1923, nee-CMStP 2-8-2 #8381 (serial #57083, L-sb class) > renumbered in July of 1938 to MILW 481. The loco served for 32 years before being scrapped in December of 1955. Specs - 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 26x30" cylinders, engine wt of 292,770 lb and tractive force of 54,723 lb. No photographer was listed for this photo which is now in my collectin. |

Can't be sure but it looks like MILW 2-8-2 #481 is sitting on a small turntable at the OshKosh, WI yard. Baldwin, 9/1923, nee-CMStP 2-8-2 #8381 (serial #57083, L-sb class) > renumbered in July of 1938 to MILW 481. The loco served for 32 years before being scrapped in December of 1955. Specs - 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 26x30" cylinders, engine wt of 292,770 lb and tractive force of 54,723 lb. This is an Edwin Wilson photo in my collection. |
