Sadly, MILW 2-8-2 Mikado #479 is still sitting in the scrap line at Bensenville, IL yard even after having been listed as scrapped in 9/1951 That must be the declaration date and not the actual scrap date. Baldwin, 9/1923, nee-CMStP 2-8-2 #8379 (serial #57066, L-sb class) > renumbered in June of 1938 to MILW 479. The loco served for 28 years before being scrapped in September of 1951. Specs - 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 26x30" cylinders, engine wt of 292,770 lb and tractive force of 54,723 lb. No photographer was listed for the phot which is now part of my collection. |
