Here is a beautiful roster shot of one of the earliest boxcabs buiilt by a trio of companies. Known as an "AGEIR boxcab", it was the combined product of Alco, GE and Ingersol Rand in 1926. The Alco serial number was 66753 while the GE serial number was 10133. It arrived in the all black paint scheme seen here which it kept for 20 years. During 1947, CNW #1001 received a yellow & green safety stripes overlapping the ends. Interesting note - The earliest boxcabs were often termed "oil-electrics" to avoid the use of the German name "Diesel", unpopular after World War I.[The loco lasted until being retired during February 1956 and subsequently scrapped. Specs - 60 ton, 300 hp, AGEIR (Alco/GE/Ingersol Rand) unit with fan cooled radiator system developed in 1926. It had an end door car body boxcab painted all black. No exact day in 1936 was listed so an approximate was used. This is a Martin Brady photo.
